Aries Full Moon:
The One We Feed
Whatever your political beliefs, striking balance during this Libra/Aries Full Moon (Tues. Oct. 14, 4:02 pm EDT) offers some vital challenges. Instead of exciting your lower instincts with messages of anger, attacks, and retaliation, feed your positive Aries warrior wolf by taking positive action to support your beliefs. Volunteer time or money to causes that inspire you and elevate others. Refuse to denigrate other points of view. Be guided by fairness and compassion, and prepare to stand firm against intolerance and violence. There is a fight going on inside you, and me, and every other person, too. Which wolf will win? The one we feed…. (read the full article)

My San Diego colleague Terry Lamb has a new political blog, and her inaugural (get it? it’s a pun!) post takes an astrological look at tomorrow night’s presidential debate. (Spoiler: advantage, Obama.) And don’t miss her October forecast, full of interesting commentary about the current Mercury retrograde, the election, and all the rest.

As today’s New Moon in Libra (1:12 am PDT, 4:12 am EDT) ushered in one of the bloodiest days in Wall Street’s history, I gave up all pretense at working and took to the sofa with my trusty laptop, the better to monitor the massacre on both internet and cable TV. I like to give such momentous events my full attention. Unfortunately, I failed to give my full attention to the fact that my foot was wrapped around the power cord of my laptop. Eventually I emerged from my sloth to get a drink and found myself taking a long, slow-motion lurch toward the kitchen, ricocheting off the kitchen table and suffering a glancing scrape to my forearm, thrusting my foot into the cat’s supper dish, and yes, pulling my laptop to the floor. Amazingly, the laptop was unscathed and my arm came right after a couple of hours with a bag of frozen peas on it. The cat’s dish was a total loss, though (as was the Dow Jones Industrial average by the market’s close).
Have I mentioned I’ve got Sagittarius rising?
Anywho. Here’s a piece from the Big Sky archives to celebrate this Libra New Moon season. And as always, don’t forget to check in with my friends at Mooncircles.com for some additional new Moon goodness!
Libra New Moon Meditation:
The Red WallThe artistry associated with Libra, the sign highlighted by this New Moon, is a reflection of Libra’s geniusfor combining one element with its natural complement. Libra, with its inherent sense of cosmic balance, delights in bringing together the right mix of people for a stimulating dinner party, two single friends who might find each other interesting, or an interesting selection of paint colors for a room. We tend to imagine that such artistry is a mysterious talent granted to some and not to others, a cosmic gift that can never be truly taught or learned. But is this true? After all, Libra is an air sign, more analytical than instinctual. Surely the gift of gracious living is available to all of us who are willing to learn.…. (read the full article)

Autumnal greetings! The Sun moved into Libra this morning at 8:45 am PDT, 11:45 am EDT. To celebrate this crisp and bracing season, here’s a meditation on autumn’s tempering influence from the Big Sky Archives:
Perhaps the greatest gift of autumn is its tempering influence, its call to service. By committing ourselves to routines and schedules that serve a larger purpose, and allowing ourselves to be forged in the fire of autumn’s disciplines, we can begin to feel sorted out and satisfied by our work and by our days, rather than enslaved by them.
And in honor of the Sun moving in Libra, the partnership sign, I’m offering a sale on Simpaticos Relationship Reports through October 22. Dig it.
