April this is a beautiful and haunting post. I too had been thinking about the Leonid shower. We make wishes upon falling stars so to me it also symbolises hope in the darkness, how the urge to create is sparked by the inevitability of death. I feel so desperately sad about your neighbours but also so happy that they found true love. I agree with Marley above - a life without love is worse than death.

It was intense. I spent all that night sobbing. I went to work with puffy eyes. When people asked what was up, I was all, Oh, I couldn't sleep. Next time I'll tell them a bee stung me.

Better now and also had a major breakthrough thanks to a very good male friend of mine but wow whee! I'd like to get it together soon with this particular issue. I'm just getting tired of it, man.

Thanks for your thoughts and kind words, all. They are warmly appreciated, even if I'm slow to respond!

It was a pretty intense New Moon, wasn't it? On Facebook someone - it might have been Molly of Molly's Astrology - noted that with these late-degree New Moons that go void of course almost immediately, she's been putting a sort of retroactive spin on her New Moon rituals. (I'm probably saying that poorly, but I can't find the quote now.) I do find that I've been doing a lot more ritual work at the Full Moons that are falling earlier in the signs.

There's also something to be said for the idea that the current times just happen to support midwifing what's already in the womb, more than planting the seeds of new intention.

Anyway, this has all got my brain working a little too hard for this late in the afternoon.

I don't think death is the worst that can happen. Lovelessness is.

April, that was absolutely beautiful and so right on. I think it's so important to work through dark things, and to understand that not everything dark can really hurt us. Then we can actually tease out what is hurting us- and like you say, it could be someone who never even lays a hand on us. (It is clinically agreed that emotional abuse is much worse than physical abuse- you could go through your whole life never even realizing that emotional abuse is happening and affecting your behavior and self-image.)

I'm so sorry about your neighbors.

Hi April,

I just received this article, New Moon in Scorpio: Sparks. Wow. As always your articles make me think, this one makes me think deeply and keeps pulling me back. I read it twice.
I'm sorry to hear about your neighbor and bride. So sad.

Just to let you know, I appreciate the positive astrologers for sure, but appreciate the real life astrologers, like yourself, even more.

It is very much "a cup of tea and wrap up in a furry blanket" night.

I like the updates to your site and your podcasts. I noticed the deeper salmon color banner a while back, maybe a couple of months ago or so. Slow to compliment you.

Hopefully, will be in touch soon. Some things are changing in my world.

Now for that tea and blanket.

I came home from work sick today - feeling more "soul sick" than body sick. I just couldn't stand one more minute of work hassle and longed so strongly to just get home and sit...still. And then I realized that it was the new moon - in scorpio. I answered the necessary emails at work and b-lined it home...to answer only the necessary emails at home and then finally to seek some good nourishing words of reflection - on your website! Thank you for this. It's balm to my sore soul, so off I go to sit in my rocking chair and sip tea and stare out the window until it gets dark....
