New Moon in Taurus: I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got

Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got
Last weekend the weather turned unseasonably hot, and on Saturday morning we brewed our coffee, bought some pastries from the local donut shop, and headed over to the park with our camp chairs for a picnic breakfast. Sitting with my husband in one of our city’s most beautiful places, breathing fresh air and watching the squirrels, the joggers, and the vivid spring flowers, and drinking excellent coffee, I suddenly realized that I know exactly what pleases me. I felt delighted, happy, and exceedingly wealthy – and all it cost was a few bucks….. (read the full article)

Under a dying moon

It’s been absurdly hot here the past couple of days. The cats are sweltering in their winter coats, the plants are drooping, and I think my sourdough starter (which I accidentally left on the counter yesterday) died. By the time we went to bed last night we were all out of sorts, and no one slept well.

I woke up from a sound sleep about 12:30 and, unable to get back to sleep, wandered out to the couch. I made the mistake of checking my email and found an email that really made me angry; spent some time formulating an angry response; and still angry, watched some bad television. It was 3:30 before I stumbled back to bed. It was still nearly 70 degrees. I was still fuming.

Now it’s not even 9:00 a.m. and it’s already 80 degrees. Like my sourdough starter, I exploded in yesterday’s heat and I’m now deflated  – I don’t even have the energy left to be angry. Mars is at 29 degrees of Pisces, poised to move into Aries tomorrow morning (6:44 am PDT), and the Moon is in her Balsamic phase; time to give the demons one last airing before letting them go. Mars in Pisces feels angry when it senses exploitation; are you feeling victimized, taken advantage of? Get good and mad about it… energize yourself with it. Fight with it. And then tonight, bury its bones in the backyard, under the dying moon.

“Kill! Crush! Destroy!” – and, a book giveaway!

A free copy of my book Star Guide to Weddings to the first commenter who (a) correctly identifies the original source of the quotation in the title of this post – AND (b) can correctly identify the transit-to-natal aspect that’s making me want to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting populace today. For I am KENTZILLA!

Update: We have a winner! Thanks for playing, melissa. I will spare you, even as I reduce your puny planet to rubble.

Kind words

There’s more I could say about this – how it came on the heels of a long, Saturn/Midheaven siege of profound self-doubt, and just one day after an exhilarating epiphany (as tr. Venus and Pluto aspected my natal Venus) about personal worth and validation – but for now, here’s a really lovely blog post and book review of Star Guide to Weddings from the kind and generous Molly Hall of About.com:

If you’ve followed April Elliott Kent’s Big Sky Astrology, you know she’s got a unique style..at times funny or poignant, always genuine. Her writing is widely admired because it’s artful, but also warm, like a funny wise friend.

It’s why she can write a book called Star Guide to Weddings: Your Horoscope for Living Happily Ever After that’s more than a sweet treat for the bridesmaid to giggle over. She creates a portrait of each marriage by Sun sign — from the color of the decor and flowers to what’s “born” there at the altar. It makes a great gift for anyone with marriage on their minds.

April’s book looks at the Sun sign for the basic nature of the marriage, things like its style, purpose, needs and sources of friction. She writes, “In astrological symbolism, the Sun represents the core of a thing, the point in a psyche or society or a marriage around which everything revolves.” And since everybody knows the Zodiac, this is a book that everyone can enjoy.

Thanks, Molly.
