Tomorrow’s Full Moon in Aries (12:45 p.m. PDT / 3:45 p.m. EDT) is the Harvest Moon - so bring a bushel basket to cart away the good stuff. I’ve posted an article to mark the occasion, hereabouts:
Brave Hearts - In high school, I was a complete and utter coward. Overweight, brainy, too sensitive for my own good, I was a scared and vulnerable creature. Naturally, bullies lined up to take their shots. Physical education class in particular was a nightmare. One such class set the stage for what I remember as one of my bravest moments….

It is I, your absent friend. This Mars/Pluto opposition (exact September 21 at 1:33 a.m. PDT) is kicking. my. ass, people. And Jonny’s. No matter how hard we swim, the waves keep knocking us back down. (Also, commuting is extra-horrible the past couple of weeks. People are driving like maniacs, am I right? Mars in Gemini. Dorks.)
The news of the world has been so frustrating and irritating of late that I’m about to go on another full media blackout. Ugh. A couple of years ago I had a long, awful transiting square from Pluto to my Mars, and it felt just like this, what with the sense of utter powerlessness, futile rage against an overwhelming, faceless enemy, etc. Just…. ugh.
Things are not all bad, though. For instance, editing has commenced on my book, and I’m pleased to say that my editor is officially the nicest man on the planet. Also, we had a tremendous visit last week with a couple of friends who were returning to the states for the first time since relocating to the UK earlier this year. What’s more, I’ve fallen in love with a new TV show, AMC’s Mad Men. Have you seen this thing? It is IN-credible. Come for the zany, anachronistic vibe - the ceaseless smoking, the blatant sexism, the five martini lunches - and you’ll stick around for the characters, who are absolutely fascinating. Much love. Episodes are available on iTunes.
Plus, yesterday was National “Talk Like a Pirate” Day. Arrrrr!

Brace yourself for tomorrow’s New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Virgo (5:44 am PDT / 8:44 am EDT) - a real doozie, with the Sun/Moon opposed Uranus and square Mars and Pluto.
I updated an archive piece from many years ago to mark the occasion:
Meaningful Habits
The New Moon on September 11 forms at 18.25 Virgo, the sign associated with those routines that comprise most of our days— working, running errands, preparing meals—as well as the habits we form through repetition of those routines. For the most part, we regard these habits and routines as entirely separate from our spiritual lives, a perspective this extends to our astrological lore, which relegates poor Virgo to the role of hapless drone while conferring spiritual honors upon its opposite sign, Pisces.
But something is being lost, I think, in our determination to avoid these humble occupations; it’s often these small, ordinary tasks that offer the most accessible route from unconscious habit to mindful ritual, as well as the most frequent opportunities for attempting the journey…. (go to article)
